Some dogs go through hell and back with owners who do not care for them. Nash is one of those survivors. Nash originally came in to the county shelter as a stray in late March. His history is unknown but he was in very poor physical condition and likely wouldn’t have lasted much longer. We worked on putting some weight on him and treated his horrible flea dermatitis. He was a skeleton and had no muscle tone in his back legs which may indicate he was in a cage or tied down with no ability to walk freely. We believe Nash is just over a year old.
After gaining nearly 10 pounds in April, he was STILL too underweight to safely be neutered when he had a vet appointment in April where he weighed in at 47 pounds. A month later, Nash was brought fully up to date on vetting. Now, in June, he has regrown a beautiful coat of hair, has good muscle tone from daily play and walks, and really is enjoying life at the kennel. It’s the best he has ever had. We are looking for a foster or adopter willing to show Nash how sweet life can really be. Life gets even better in a loving home.
Nash is an excellent car rider and was wonderful at the vet’s office. He also walks relatively well on leash and really enjoys going on long walks. He is mild mannered, quiet and intelligent. Nash likes other dogs and has been assessed and part of day training at Stepping Stone Animal Training in Lafayette. Nash would do best in a home with no cats and older children.
Nash is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He now weighs about 60 pounds.
